| 裏面の説明 | The large numeral '2' dominates the central field, denoting the face value. The country name 'ISLAND' arcs across the upper portion of the legend in bold raised lettering, while 'AURAR' curves along the lower portion. Two symmetrically placed decorative ornaments, each composed of a central lozenge surrounded by small dots in a cruciform arrangement, flank the numeral to the left and right, lending the design a balanced, heraldic character. |

Iceland in this period was a sovereign kingdom in personal union with Denmark under Christian X — not a Danish colony, a distinction the Althing had fought hard to establish with the 1918 Act of Union. These coins were struck at the Copenhagen Mint, which retained the contract despite Iceland's nominal independence. Production continued through the German occupation of Denmark, which is why the series runs to 1942; after that point, wartime disruption severed the arrangement entirely, and no further bronze aurar were issued until a new coinage series was established postwar.
