| 背面描述 | Central device consisting of a large grain or olive-shaped pellet flanked by radiating lines or spokes, forming a wheel- or star-like pattern in low relief, rendered in the archaic Etruscan casting style. Surrounding the central motif are the inscribed letters of the ethnic legend in early Etruscan-Latin characters, reading FELA-ODI (retrograde Etruscan form of Velathri, i.e. Volaterrae), with the value mark II (two asses) prominently displayed. The flan is broad and irregular, consistent with cast aes grave production. The entire composition is contained within the plain, unbordered field typical of Etruscan aes grave coinage of this period. The bold, schematic rendering of the reverse type reflects the monumental and utilitarian aesthetic of third-century BC Etruscan monetary production. |
