Opmerkingen

Indergadh was a minor talukdari estate in the Central India Agency, and its wartime cash coupons were a purely local response to the severe small-change shortage that afflicted much of India from 1942 onward. Metal was being diverted to the war effort, and coins of low denomination effectively vanished from everyday commerce. Hundreds of princely states, municipalities, and private merchants across India issued paper substitutes of varying formality — Indergadh's coupons sit firmly at the informal end of that spectrum.

The near-square format is a consequence of printing on whatever stock was available, not a design choice.
