Opmerkingen

Vithalgadh was among the smaller Kathiawar princely states that issued cash coupons during the Second World War as a response to the severe coinage shortage that swept across India when the colonial government began diverting metal to wartime production. These locally issued paper substitutes filled the fractional currency gap left by the near-disappearance of low-denomination coins from circulation.

Pick S462 is one of the more elusive entries in the Kathiawar coupon series. Documentation on Vithalgadh's issue quantities and redemption history is sparse, which makes establishing true rarity difficult — but surviving examples are rarely offered.
