The B.-A. Club was a British forces recreational establishment operating in South Asia during the Second World War — the "B.A." almost certainly standing for British Army. Canteen and mess clubs of this type routinely issued their own low-denomination paper tokens or chits to manage small transactions internally, bypassing the need for coinage that was often scarce or impractical in field conditions. Two annas was a typical threshold for a tea, a snack, or a single cigarette.
These chits were never legal tender and had no value outside the issuing establishment. Few were retained after the club closed or the unit moved on.
