Central field features the tughra of Pakistan rendered in calligraphic style, flanked on either side by a five-pointed star, with the date inscribed within or adjacent to the device. The tughra is enclosed within a beaded or plain circle, with decorative sprigs framing the lower portion. The outer legend reads 'GOVERNMENT OF PAKISTAN' in Latin script along the upper arc, with the Urdu equivalent 'حكومت پاكستان' completing the inscription. The overall design reflects the heraldic aesthetic of early Pakistani coinage. |

Central device depicts the crescent and star emblem of Pakistan, with the crescent oriented upward and a five-pointed star in the upper field, accompanied by additional stars in the surrounding area. Decorative sprigs flank the lower portion of the design, enclosed within a circle. The denomination is inscribed in both Urdu script 'دو آنه' and Latin script 'TWO ANNAS', appearing within the field below the central device. The composition is clean and heraldic, consistent with the early coinage style of Pakistan. |

Pakistan's first coinage series, issued after partition in 1947, had to be produced entirely at foreign mints — the country had no mint of its own. The 2 Annas pieces from this run were struck at the Royal Mint in London and the Lahore Mint, the latter having been retained by Pakistan following the division of undivided India's minting infrastructure.
The anna system itself was abolished with decimalization in 1961, making this series the only anna-denominated coinage Pakistan ever issued.
