Aversbeschreibung Central field features the tughra of Pakistan rendered in calligraphic style, flanked on either side by a five-pointed star, with the date inscribed within or adjacent to the device. The tughra is enclosed within a beaded or plain circle, with decorative sprigs framing the lower portion. The outer legend reads 'GOVERNMENT OF PAKISTAN' in Latin script along the upper arc, with the Urdu equivalent 'حكومت پاكستان' completing the inscription. The overall design reflects the heraldic aesthetic of early Pakistani coinage.

Zusätzliche Informationen

Pakistan's first coinage series, issued after partition in 1947, had to be produced entirely at foreign mints — the country had no mint of its own. The 2 Annas pieces from this run were struck at the Royal Mint in London and the Lahore Mint, the latter having been retained by Pakistan following the division of undivided India's minting infrastructure.

The anna system itself was abolished with decimalization in 1961, making this series the only anna-denominated coinage Pakistan ever issued.
