| Beschrijving keerzijde | The central field carries a multi-line inscription denoting the denomination, mint authority, and date, arranged in four horizontal lines reading 2 ALBUS / COLSCH / 1685, with the mint official's initials CB appearing below the date in the exergue area. The legend MONE.NOVA HOLTZAPPEL runs around the periphery within a beaded border, interspersed with floral ornaments, identifying this as a new coinage of Holzappel. The overall layout is characteristic of small hammered silver coins of the late 17th-century Holy Roman Empire. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Nassau-Holzappel was one of the smallest and most obscure of the Nassau lines, elevated to the rank of principality only in 1652 under Alexander II. Elisabeth Charlotte, who governed as regent from 1679 following her husband Ludwig's death, struck coins in her own name during this regency — a relatively uncommon exercise of female titular authority in the fragmented German states of the period. The 2 Albus was the workhorse denomination of Rhenish petty commerce, and Holzappel's output was modest enough that survivors in any condition are scarce.
