| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Afghanistan, adopted in 2002, is depicted centrally, featuring a stylized mosque with a mihrab and prayer rug within, flanked by two Afghan flags. The mosque is framed by sheaves of wheat that curve upward on either side, surmounted by a rising sun at the apex. The date of Afghan independence, 1298 in the Solar Hijri calendar (١٢٩٨ هـ ش), appears within the emblem. A ribbon at the base of the device bears the name of the country in Pashto script. The legend افغانستان appears in the field. |
