| Obverse description | Central field bears the state emblem of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan under the Khalq faction: a circular shield charged with the word 'Khalq' (خلق, meaning 'the People') in Arabic script, surmounted by a five-pointed star, and flanked by two symmetrical sprays of wheat. A ribbon at the base of the wreath bears an inscription. The Arabic legend 'د افغانستان دموکراتیک جمهوری دولت خلق' curves along the upper periphery, with the Solar Hijri date 'ثور-١٣٥٧' (Sawr 1357) appearing in the lower field, denoting the month of the Saur Revolution. |

| Reverse description | The denomination numeral '٢' (2) rendered in a large, bold Eastern Arabic figure dominates the central field. The word 'دوی' (Two) appears in Arabic script above the numeral, and 'افغانی' (Afghani) is inscribed below. A border of twelve five-pointed stars, evenly spaced, encircles the entire design along the inner rim, lending a decorative and republican character to the composition. |
