| Opmerkingen |
Velilla de Ebro is a small municipality in Zaragoza province, and like hundreds of Aragonese villages during 1937, its local council issued emergency fractional currency after metallic coin effectively vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply absorbed by the war economy. These municipal issues were technically illegal under Republican decree but tolerated out of necessity. The 2.50 pesetas denomination is an awkward one, suggesting genuine local calculation of what denominations were actually needed for market transactions rather than simple imitation of official series.
