正面描述 Central field features the denomination '2,5' above the inscription 'Türk Lirası' and the date '2020', all enclosed within a wreath composed of wheat ears to the left and an olive branch to the right. A crescent and star device appears above the central legend. The circular legend 'TÜRKİYE CUMHURİYETİ' runs along the upper rim and 'REPUBLIC OF TURKEY' along the lower rim, both in raised Latin lettering. The mint mark of the Turkish State Mint appears below the date at the base of the wreath. The overall design is executed in a medallic relief style with a contrasting recessed border.

附加信息

This piece belongs to Turkey's ongoing commemorative series celebrating UNESCO World Heritage Sites, issued the same year President Erdoğan ordered Hagia Sophia reconverted from museum to functioning mosque — a decision that generated immediate international condemnation from UNESCO, the World Council of Churches, and the governments of Greece, Cyprus, and the United States. The timing was not coincidental. The coin entered production as the legal and political machinery of that conversion was already in motion, with the Council of State annulling the 1934 cabinet decree that had originally established the building's museum status.
