Amatőrök Forgalmi Szövetkezete — the Amateurs' Trading Cooperative — was one of dozens of small Hungarian associations and cooperatives that issued their own emergency scrip during the acute currency shortage following the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monetary system. These szükségpénz notes filled a genuine gap: the new Hungarian state could not produce small-denomination currency fast enough, and local organizations stepped in.
