Luxembourg issued this piece under its ongoing municipal commemorative program, which has cycled through the country's historic towns since the early 2010s. Henri I, Count of Luxembourg in the twelfth century, is the figure from whom the ruling House of Luxembourg ultimately traces its medieval roots — though the dynastic line to the current grand ducal family passes through several extinctions and lateral inheritances rather than any clean descent.
The trimetallic construction places this outside standard eurozone specie and gives it no legal tender status beyond Luxembourg itself.
