By 1993, Polish inflation had forced denominations into the millions — this 2,000,000 złoty note was a functional, everyday instrument, not a collector's curiosity at the time of issue. The hyperinflationary surge traced back to the Balcerowicz Plan of 1990, which liberalized prices overnight and briefly sent inflation above 580% annually before stabilizing.
The series was short-lived. Poland redenominated on 1 January 1995, replacing 10,000 old złotych with 1 new złoty, rendering the entire high-denomination run obsolete within two years of printing.
