By 1992, Polish inflation had been running so hot for so long that denominations once unthinkable had become routine. The 2,000,000 złoty note was a direct consequence of the hyperinflationary spiral that followed the communist-era collapse — a period in which the złoty lost the better part of its practical value within just a few years. The denomination was not exceptional for its moment; notes of 500,000 and 1,000,000 had already normalized the scale.
Poland redenominated in 1995, replacing 10,000 old złotych with 1 new złoty, which rendered the entire high-denomination series obsolete almost immediately after it was issued.
