正面描述 Single-sided letterpress printing in blue on cream paper stock, the note carries the bold numeral '2000000' at both upper corners beneath the heading 'Gutschein der Reichsbahndirektion Elberfeld.' in roman type. The denomination in words, 'Zwei Millionen Mark', is set in a large Gothic Fraktur typeface across the centre, above a body of italic text detailing redemption conditions, the issuance date of 16 August 1923, and the expiry notice of 10 September 1923, with a manuscript authorisation signature below. A circular official dry-stamp of the Reichsbahndirektion Elberfeld bearing a spread-eagle vignette is applied to the lower centre, a red serial number is printed vertically along the left margin, and the anti-counterfeiting legend 'Nachahmung strafbar' appears at lower right.

备注

The Reichsbahndirektion Elberfeld was one of the regional directorates of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, and like many non-banking institutions during the hyperinflation of 1923, it issued its own emergency currency — Notgeld — to pay workers when the Reichsbank simply could not supply enough physical notes fast enough. The 2,000,000 Mark denomination places this note in the middle phase of the collapse, before the truly absurd figures arrived that autumn.

R. L. Friderichs was a local Elberfeld printer, not a specialist currency producer. The embossed seal was the issuer's primary attempt at authority — functional, if rudimentary.
