正面描述 Salmon-red letterpress note with a decorative guilloche underprint in the left and right margins forming repeated geometric panels. The denomination 'Zwei Millionen Mark' is set in bold black Fraktur type at upper left, with the city's ornate heraldic vignette — a crowned baroque cartouche — printed in pale blue-grey at centre. A vertical black rule separates the main field from a right-hand coupon panel bearing the numeral '2.000.000', a serial number, the city arms in black, and the series designation 'Reihe A 4'. Three manuscript signatures appear at lower left above the validity clause stating expiry no later than 31 October 1923.

备注

Chemnitz was one of hundreds of German municipalities that stepped in to fill the currency vacuum during the hyperinflation of 1923, when the Reichsbank simply could not produce notes fast enough to keep pace with collapsing purchasing power. This 2,000,000 Mark notgeld was not a curiosity or a collector's souvenir — it was functional emergency money, printed and issued by the city government to pay workers and keep local commerce moving.

By August 1923, a 2-million-mark denomination was already worth very little. Many of these municipal issues were obsolete within weeks of printing.
