Whether that was the actual intent here or simply the arithmetic of a local cash shortage is unresolved, but the value itself is the note's defining characteristic. H. Pinkepauk designed it locally, which was common for smaller Mecklenburg municipalities that lacked connections to the major Notgeld printing houses in Berlin or Leipzig.
