| Reverse description | A zebu (humped bull) charging and butting to the right, depicted in a dynamic posture with head lowered and forelegs raised, the characteristic dorsal hump clearly articulated. The Greek ethnic legend ΦΑΡΝΑΚΕΩΝ, denoting the citizens of Pharnakeia, is divided around the type, with the first portion (ΦΑΡΝΑ) appearing above and the remainder (ΚΕΩΝ) below the animal in the exergual area. The design is rendered in a vigorous provincial Hellenistic style consistent with Pontic civic coinage of the period. |
