参考资料 SNG BM Black Sea#211
正面描述 Veiled and draped bust of Demeter facing right, her hair partially visible beneath the veil, with a wreath of grain ears crowning her head. The portrait is rendered in the Hellenistic tradition, with fine modeling of the facial features despite the coin's bronze fabric. A bundle of grain stalks or torch is depicted prominently to the left of the bust, serving as an additional attribute of the goddess. The flan is irregular, characteristic of provincial Greek bronze coinage of the period.

附加信息

Kallatis, the Dorian colony on the western Black Sea coast (modern Mangalia, Romania), maintained a fiercely independent monetary policy well into the Hellenistic period — remarkable given the sustained pressure it faced from successive Macedonian and later Thracian powers. The city endured a prolonged siege by Lysimachus around 313–309 BC that nearly destroyed it entirely, and its subsequent coinage reflects a civic identity rebuilt with some deliberateness.

SNG BM Black Sea 211 places this piece within a well-documented municipal bronze series, though precise chronological sequencing within the 225–150 BC bracket remains contested among specialists.
