Additional information

Aigospotamoi — the site of the decisive 405 BC Spartan naval victory that effectively ended the Peloponnesian War — was a small Thracian settlement on the Hellespont whose coin output was extremely limited. The community never developed into a significant urban center, which explains why its bronze issues are rarely encountered. SNG Copenhagen 850 remains one of the primary reference points simply because so few institutional collections hold examples.
