| Obverse description | The obverse is dominated by a central vignette of a busy port scene with steamships and smoke, flanked by the denomination numerals '0.18' in the upper corners. A young girl in period dress appears at the lower left and a portrait of a bearded man in Renaissance-style attire at the lower right, with the issuer's name 'EL BANCO NACIONAL' in large bold letterpress across the centre.
