| Descrizione del rovescio | Central device comprising a caduceus — the winged staff associated with Hermes — flanked on either side by the conical felt caps (pilei) of the Dioscuri, each surmounted by a star, a composition widely employed on coins of the Thracian and Aegean island mints in the Augustan period. The Latin mint abbreviation IMB, standing for Imbrus (Ίμβρος), appears in the lower field below the caps. The design is boldly struck but somewhat flat at center, with the reverse flan showing a rough, granular patina overall. |
