背面描述 Abbreviated ethnic legend PAL enclosed within a wreath, the branches tied at the base. The inscription, reading PAL as an abbreviation for Pallanum, is centrally placed within the wreath border, flanked by the foliage on either side. The overall composition is typical of Oscan municipal bronze coinage of the third century BC.

附加信息

Pallanum was a small Frentanian settlement in the Abruzzo region whose civic coinage output was extremely limited — this bronze is among the very few types attributed to the mint with any confidence. The Frentani occupied an awkward political position during the third century, having submitted to Rome after the Samnite Wars yet retaining enough autonomy to strike local bronze for another generation. That window closed permanently during the Social War.

The Lloyd specimen cited in the SNG reference sold as part of one of the twentieth century's most closely studied ancient bronze collections, and its attribution helped anchor the Pallanum series against competing ascriptions to neighboring Frentanian centers.
