Andros, the northernmost of the Cyclades, maintained enough civic autonomy during the early Hellenistic period to strike its own bronze coinage despite sitting squarely within the contested Aegean sphere pulled between Macedonian and Ptolemaic ambitions. By the mid-3rd century, the island had passed through the hands of several Macedonian successors before eventually falling under Ptolemaic control around 250 BC — making the later end of this type's production window politically uncertain.
SNG Copenhagen 606 places this firmly within the civic bronze sequence, though die studies for Andriot bronze remain thin compared to the island's silver.
