| Beschrijving voorzijde | Laureate head of Zeus facing right, rendered in bold relief with characteristic thick curling beard and wavy hair arranged in layered locks. The facial features are well-modelled in the Hellenistic tradition, with a prominent brow and strong jaw. The laurel wreath is visible along the crown of the head. The flan is slightly irregular, typical of hand-struck provincial bronzes of the period. |

Apollonia Salbace was a small city in Caria, southwestern Asia Minor, whose civic coinage emerged during the period of shifting Seleucid and later Pergamene influence over the region. The city's autonomous bronze issues are rare enough that the BMC Greek corpus records only a handful of specimens, making institutional provenance a meaningful factor for any example.
