Norway's 1814 constitution was drafted at Eidsvoll during a narrow window of opportunity — Napoleon's defeat had loosened Danish control, and the framers moved fast before Swedish forces could impose less favorable terms. They largely succeeded: the resulting document was liberal enough by contemporary standards that it survived the subsequent union with Sweden largely intact, requiring only the clauses relating to Danish sovereignty to be struck.
The 175th anniversary issue came out the year the Berlin Wall fell, though that timing was coincidental.
