Obverse description The obverse is printed in black on white paper with a typeset layout typical of postal money order instruments. At upper left, a revenue stamp vignette inscribed 'COMMISSIE LOON / DRIE PENCE' bears the Orange Free State arms; the heading 'ORANJE VRIJ STAAT / POST NOOT' is set in large letterpress type across the top, with the denomination '17/6' printed in bold within a box at upper right alongside a serial number.
