Zeleia was a small Mysian city in the Troad, situated near the mouth of the Aesepus River. It appears in the Iliad as the home of Trojan allies who rode down from the foothills of Ida, and the city retained that Homeric association throughout antiquity. Civic bronze issues of this type are scarce; Zeleia's output was modest even by regional standards, and the SNG Copenhagen specimen remains one of the primary reference points for attributing this series.
