Reverse description Central field bears a devotional cross motif accompanied by the Latin circumscriptional legend reading CRVCEM TVAM ADORAMVS (We adore Thy Cross), a common religious invocation found on Montferrat bronze coinage of the late fifteenth century. The legend is introduced by a cross pattée and punctuated by colons or stops between words, consistent with hammered die production of the period. The reverse flan is irregular in outline, typical of hand-struck minor bronze issues from the Casale mint under the Palaeologus marquises.
