| Beschrijving voorzijde | Bust of Herakles facing right, adorned with the lionskin headdress, the open jaws of the lion's scalp visible atop the hero's head. The facial features are rendered in a bold, archaic style characteristic of early Macedonian bronze coinage, with the neck and hair loosely detailed within the compact flan. |

Pydna's numismatic output from this period is sparse, which reflects the city's precarious political position more than any administrative oversight. The city fell to Macedon under Archelaus I in the late fifth century and spent the following decades in an uneasy relationship with the expanding Macedonian kingdom — this issue dates to the window before Philip II's consolidation made Pydna effectively a Macedonian city. It was finally seized outright by Philip in 357 BC after a siege, ending whatever remained of its civic independence.
