| 裏面の説明 | Standing figure of Demeter or Persephone facing right, depicted in long chiton, extending her arms to hold a poppy head and grain ears as divine attributes. To the left of the figure, a partial ethnic inscription in Greek letters is visible, likely an abbreviated form of the city ethnic ΚΑΦΥ (Kaphyai). The composition reflects standard Arkadian iconographic conventions for chthonic deities on civic bronze coinage. |

Kaphyai was a minor Arcadian polis situated near the northeastern edge of the Arcadian plateau, politically marginal enough that its autonomous bronze coinage is poorly documented and rarely surfaces. The BCD Peloponnesos collection remains the primary reference for this type precisely because so few examples passed through major auction channels before that collection was catalogued.
Arcadian civic bronzes of this period frequently circulated alongside Achaean League issues, and distinguishing locally-used civic pieces from regional currency is still an open question for several small mints in this district.
