Zoo Bojnice's "Zoolar" notes are a fully functioning alternative currency — accepted for food, souvenirs, and entry fees within the zoo grounds — making this Eurasian lynx issue something more than a novelty token. The series was produced by Štátna Tlačiareň Cenín, the same Bratislava security printer responsible for official Slovak banknotes and identity documents, which gives these pieces a level of technical production quality rarely seen in local promotional scrip.
The Carpathian lynx population in Slovakia is one of the few self-sustaining wild populations remaining in Central Europe, which gives the species choice a regional logic beyond decoration.
