Obverse description Letterpress-printed note in brown ink on laid paper, framed by a typographic border with columnar ornaments at left and right margins and a script denomination legend along the bottom edge. The central text block sets out the authorizing legislation in period typeface, citing the Act of General Assembly of Pennsylvania in the 13th year of George III, dated 20 March 1773, with the denomination "XVI s." and a small engraved armorial vignette at center right. Two manuscript signatures appear in the lower portion of the note.
