背面描述 Standing full-length female figure, facing slightly, dressed in long robes, holding a wine ladle or dipper in her raised right hand and a vessel or cup in her left, a reference to the city's celebrated hospitality traditions. The figure stands on a ground line with small foliate elements in the lower field. A circular legend in Latin surrounds the central device within a beaded border, the inscription drawn from Esther 1:8 alluding to the freedom of drinking without compulsion.

附加信息

Aachen's 16 Mark denomination is a product of the city's peculiar monetary privilege as a Free Imperial City, which permitted it to strike coins on a local standard largely independent of the surrounding territorial coinages. The 16 Mark unit itself reflects the city's archaic internal accounting system rather than any imperial or Rhenish convention — a denomination that made sense within Aachen's walls and almost nowhere else.

By 1711, the city's minting activity was already in its twilight; very few issues postdate this period.
