| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse features the Hanoverian white horse (the Sachsenross), depicted in vigorous left-facing gallop above a hatched ground line, serving as the heraldic symbol of the Kingdom of Hannover. The horse is rendered in high relief with flowing mane and tail, presented in a dynamic rearing-leaping posture characteristic of early 19th-century Hanoverian coinage. A continuous Latin legend encircles the design, reading GEORGIUS IV D G BRITANN ET HANNOV REX, with the mint mark and fineness indication XX E F MARK appearing in the lower portion of the legend. The field is plain and unadorned, allowing the central equine device to dominate the composition. The die work is attributed to engraver August Rudolf Fues. |
