Beschrijving voorzijde Central field bears a four-line Latin legend within an inner circle, reading XVI / GVDE / GROSCH / 1675, denoting the denomination of 16 Gute Groschen and the date of issue. The surrounding outer legend, separated by the inner circle border, carries the titulature of Count Gustav of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Hohenstein in abbreviated Latin. The coin's rim is decorated with a fine toothed or milled border. The overall presentation is entirely typographic, with no figurative imagery on this face.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse displays the elaborate six-fold quartered arms of the County of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Hohenstein, incorporating a central escutcheon bearing the arms of Sayn. The composite shield is surmounted by a large ornate comital crown with prominent fleurons and jewelled band. Two palm branches flank the shield symmetrically on either side, serving as decorative supporters. A circular Latin legend encircles the entire composition, running along the toothed rim, bearing the motto AD INSTAR GRUIS. The heraldic engraving is rendered in the detailed baroque style typical of late seventeenth-century German coinage.
