Segesta, the ancient Elymian city in northwestern Sicily, struck bronze coinage sporadically through the late Republican period — a community navigating Roman administrative absorption while maintaining residual civic identity through local issues. By this span, Segesta had largely lost autonomous political standing following Rome's reorganization of Sicily after the First Punic War, making any continued civic bronze emission a statement of municipal rather than sovereign function. The CNS reference places this firmly within the final phase of Segestian civic coinage, a series that effectively ended with Augustan provincial reorganization.
