Reverse description Crowned arms of Spain flanked by the Pillars of Hercules, struck on the reverse of a host Mexico 8 Reales. A central circular plug of 15 crenations has been excised from the center of the coin, interrupting the central design between the pillars. A dome-shaped counterstamp bearing the numeral '16' surmounted by a crown appears above in the field. The original host coin legends, mint mark 'Mo', denomination '8R', and assayer initials 'F·M' remain visible around the periphery.
