Ariarathes X was installed as king of Cappadocia by Mark Antony around 42 BC, displacing Ariarathes IX — himself a Roman client — in a move that reflected the brutal factional reshuffling of eastern client kingdoms following Caesar's assassination. His reign lasted only until roughly 36 BC, when Antony transferred Cappadocia to Archelaus, ending the Ariarathid dynasty after more than two centuries of continuous rule.
Bronze civic issues of this reign are scarce in all grades, a function of the kingdom's limited urban mint infrastructure and the political instability that almost certainly disrupted production.
