| Obverse description | Facing right, the youthful head of Herakles is depicted wearing the lionskin headdress, with the scalp tied beneath the chin in characteristic Macedonian royal iconography. The modelling of the facial features follows the idealized Lysippan tradition associated with Alexander III's coinage. The lionskin's mane is rendered in flowing, striated relief along the left field. The flan is irregular and the surfaces exhibit heavy patination consistent with prolonged burial, obscuring fine detail. |
