| Obverse description | Youthful head of Dionysus facing right, crowned with an elaborate ivy wreath adorned with clusters of berries and corymbs, the long wavy hair falling in thick locks behind the neck. The portrait is rendered in the Hellenistic tradition, with soft facial features and a slightly idealized, sensuous expression characteristic of Dionysiac iconography on Maroneia's civic bronze coinage. |
