| Obverse description | Facing bucranium (bull's head seen from the front) rendered in high relief, with decorative fillets suspended from each ear and hanging vertically on either side of the head. The ethnic abbreviation ΕΛ (for Elateia) is inscribed in the upper field above the horns, flanking the forehead. The style is bold and schematic, characteristic of Phokian civic bronze coinage of the Hellenistic period. |
