Obverse description The coat of arms of the canton of Vaud occupies the center of the field, bearing the motto LIBERTE ET PATRIE on its upper portion and diagonal hatching below. A Swiss cross in relief appears above the shield, flanked by the dates 1803-1953. A circular legend surrounds the design, with the fineness mark .900 and the mintmark MM inscribed in the lower exergue.

Reverse description A truncated bust of Frédéric-César de la Harpe in right-facing profile dominates the field, rendered in high relief with detailed hair and period costume. The legend CANTON DE VAUD arcs across the upper field, and F.C. DE LA HARPE curves along the lower field, flanked by two small olive branches. The engraver's initials CR appear below the bust truncation.
