Obverse description The national coat of arms of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea occupies the central field, depicting a hydroelectric power station beneath a radiant star, flanked by sheaves of rice bound with a ribbon, and a power transmission pylon to the left. The arms are encircled by the Korean-script legend reading the full name of the issuing state and bank along the outer border. The fineness '999', weight '8g', and date '1990' are inscribed in the lower portion of the field.
