Duden is a German-language reference publisher best known for its authoritative orthography dictionary, first compiled by Konrad Duden in 1880 and so thoroughly embedded in German-speaking institutional life that its spelling standards were formally adopted by Germany, Austria, and Switzerland through the Second Orthographical Conference of 1901.
