Additional information

Miffy — the minimalist Dutch rabbit created by Dick Bruna in 1955 — has appeared on legal tender from several small issuing authorities, Burkina Faso among them. These fractional gold pieces are produced specifically for the collector market; none circulate, and Burkina Faso itself has no meaningful role in their design, production, or distribution. The actual minting is contracted to European private minting houses that license the Bruna imagery and arrange the legal tender designation through cooperative agreements with low-volume issuing states.
