Additional information

These small-format gold issues produced for the Ivory Coast by European minting houses — almost certainly the Monnaie de Paris or a Belgian contractor — occupy an awkward commercial niche: legally valid currency of a sovereign state, struck in negligible quantities, never intended for circulation, and sold almost entirely to thematic collectors in the anniversary market. The 50th anniversary of the Dallas assassination fell in November 2013, which explains the timing precisely.
