| Aanvullende informatie |
Togo's authority to issue collector coinage in the early 2000s derived from its membership in the West African Economic and Monetary Union, which pools monetary policy under the BCEAO — meaning Lomé had no independent central bank driving these releases. The Colosseum piece belongs to a wave of small-format gold issues produced largely for the European collector market, with distribution handled almost entirely outside Togo itself.
At 1.24 grams, the gold content is nominal by any standard — priced on novelty and theme rather than bullion value.
