| Obverse description | The Togolese coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting two rampant lions flanking a shield charged with the monogram 'RT' within a cogwheel, surmounted by two crossed national flags bearing ribbons inscribed TRAVAIL, LIBERTÉ, and PATRIE. The denomination 1500 FRANCS CFA appears along the lower arc and the date 2022 is placed in the lower field. The circular legend RÉPUBLIQUE TOGOLAISE runs along the upper periphery, all within a beaded border. |

The "Big Five" label originated with big-game hunters as a ranking of the five most dangerous African animals to kill on foot — a grim provenance that wildlife conservation marketing has largely laundered into respectability. Togo has no particular zoological or historical claim to this iconography; the issue is aimed squarely at the European collector market, produced under the CFA franc framework administered by the BCEAO.
At 0.1418 grams, the gold content is negligible — roughly one-quarter the weight of a U.S. dime in base metal.
